About our house
Our cozy oasis is within two miles of Michigan Tech, Downtown Houghton, fabulous biking, hiking and ski trails and within 11 miles of Mt. Ripley, the Quincy Mine, and the Houghton County airport. If the location wasn’t enough, you’ll love our place because it’s super cozy, and you get the whole house – so it’s private, too! We welcome couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and friends!

The Neighborhood
Located a short walk from the Michigan Tech Trail’s Mill Rd Trailhead. Perfect for mountain bikers and skiers looking for easy access to the trails.
Getting Around
Public transportation is limited outside of the city limits but there are taxi services in the area. The house is 1 mile from Michigan Tech’s campus (I used to walk and ride bike to campus daily – year round). Downtown Houghton is 2 miles from the house.

Parking
Parking is limited to 2 vehicles in summer and one vehicle in winter. There is no room for trailers in winter. If you plan to have more than one vehicle, please contact us prior to booking to discuss limitations.
Sleeping
As a 1900s era mining home, the upstairs used to consist of 3 very small bedrooms. The entire upstairs was opened up into a single loft style room featuring a new Restonic (Made in the UP!) Queen size bed and a twin bed.
The living room features a pull out couch with an acceptable mattress (better than the floor).
Kitchen
A fully equipped eat-in kitchen with stove/oven, sink, full-size fridge, microwave, crockpot, and coffee maker. The fridge is stocked with basics (ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, etc) and we also provide complimentary coffee and tea.
Yard
A quarter acre lot with a hose for bike washing.
Front Porch
An enclosed front porch is great for storing bikes and skis when not in use.
Child Proof
The living room is as “child proof” as is practical. Two baby gates will be provided upon request at least one day prior to arrival.
